Obituary for Frank Hannon Sr.

Frank Hannon Sr.
Frank Hannon Sr., 97, of Union and Long Beach Island, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 8:30 A.M. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Michael’s Church in Union at 10:15 A.M. Entombment will follow to St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Milburn, N.J.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 18, 2017 3 to 5 P.M and Sunday, November 19, 2017 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.

Born in Newark, NJ in 1920, the son of William Hannon Sr. and Anna Andersen Hannon, he was the second born of five brothers, the late Bill, the late Bob, Jim, and Donald. The five brothers were co-owners of Hannon Floor Covering Corp., in Union N.J. which was founded by their father in Newark in 1928 and remains family owned and operated.

Frank served our country in WWII as a Master Sergeant in the US Army stationed in India. He returned from the war and married his loving wife of 54 years, the late Jane Doris Hannon. It was quite fitting that he left this world on what would have been his wife’s 96th birthday.

Frank moved to Union sixty years ago and was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s parish in Union.

Frank enjoyed spending time with his family. His love of life and sense of humor continued to the end of his 97 years. Frank loved spending time with his family especially summers on Long Beach Island. He loved having people around him, believing the more the merrier and all were always welcome.

Surviving Frank are his son Frank and wife Maureen, daughter Cathy and husband Ed Holdwright and daughter Mary, his five grandchildren David (Leigh Ann), Megan (Steve), Frankie (Kristin), Christine (Maurice) and Erin, and his seven great grandchildren, Jake, Emma, Lily, Jack, Ella, Frankie IV and Kate, his brothers, Jim and his wife Marie and brother Donald, his sister-in-law Sr. Angelica Doris, and caretaker Bacho.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name can be made to St. Elizabeth’s Convent, Sisters of Charity, Convent Station, NJ 07961.
