Obituary for Alfonso R. D'Alessandro

Alfonso R. D’Alessandro, 92, of Kenilworth, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Cranford Health and Extended Care Center.
Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 8:30am. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Theresa R. C. Church in Kenilworth at 10am. Interment will follow to Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation is 5 to 9pm on Wednesday.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Alfonso lived in Bloomfield for over 30 years before moving to Kenilworth 10 years ago where he lived with his niece and nephew, Darlene and Sal Candarella.
He was a postal worker for the United States Post Office in Newark for many years, retiring 30 years ago, and prior to that he was a chemical engineer.
Alfonso was a 1947 graduate of Newark College of Engineering.
He served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.
Alfonso was a member of the Kenilworth Senior Citizen Club, choir at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield, and the N. R. A. in Washington, D. C.
He was devoted and dedicated to our Beloved Blessed Mother.
Alfonso is predeceased by his loving parents Alfonso and Immacolata (nee: Miele) D’Alessandro and three dear brothers Geneiso, Orlando, and Anthony D’Alessandro.
Surviving is a dear brother Gerald D’Alessandro and a dear sister Madeleine Donini. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Theresa R. C. Church Food Pantry, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, NJ, 07033 in Alfonso’s memory.
