Obituary for James D. "Jim" Vigliotti

James D. “Jim” Vigliotti, 96, of Roselle Park, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 8:30am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park at 10am. Interment will follow to Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth.

Visitation will be 4 to 8pm on Monday.

Born in Newark, NJ, Jim resided in Roselle Park since 1957.

He was a truck driver for 41 years and drove for Linden Motor Freight for 26 years before retirement.

He was very active at the Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park and worked as a trustee, choral director, leader of song, choir member and soloist for various occasions.

Jim sang for the Borough of Roselle Park for the Fireman’s Memorial Services, the Veteran’s Memorial Parades, and at the Borough Hall.

He was a member of the VFW Post 9119, Knights of Columbus Council 3240, the Citizens for Educational Advisory Committee, Holy Name Society of Church of the Assumption, and was a chairman of the Roselle Park Community Blood Bank for 31 years.

Jim was a veteran of World War II where he flew in a B-17 Flying Fortress as an Aerial Gunner for 34 missions with the 8th Air Force and was in the Battle of Normandy, he was recalled to service during the Korean War for one year.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (nee: Califano) Vigliotti.

Jim is survived by his daughter Marilyn Rottmann (Jim), sons James A Vigliotti (Cathy), and Donald J. Vigliotti (Kathy), grandchildren John Popovich, Alyson Rose, Dana Bennett (Dan), Mark Vigliotti (Catherine), Alyssa Vigliotti, and great-grandchildren Harrison Fairchild and Isabella Vigliotti.
