Virginia G. Lucas, 88, of Mountainside, passed away peacefully while holding her beloved daughter Anna Maria’s hand at Overlook Medical Center, Summit on June 7, 2019. Virginia was born and lived most of her life in Roselle Park before moving to Mountainside 19 years ago.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, Roselle Park. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday at 10am at Assumption Church, Roselle Park with burial to follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Friends and relatives may arrive at 8:30am on Tuesday.

Virginia worked for NJ Bell, Roselle, as a telephone operator for 17 years before retiring many years ago. Virginia enjoyed many years helping care for her adoring grandsons. Her fondest memories are of her many get togethers with her extended family and her monthly card club with her friends. She was a member of the Moms Club & the Senior Citizens, both of Roselle Park & the Mountainside Senior Citizens Club.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gondolfo Guercio & Maria Placa; husband John Lucas; brothers, Pat Guercio; Joseph Guercio; sisters, Caroline Picciano & Concetta Guercio. Surviving is her devoted daughter Anna Maria Matarredona & husband Jorge, along with her bonus Matarredona family; brother Salvatore; sister Mary Journe & cherished grandchildren, John & Michael and future granddaughter in law Caitlin Mongon along with her adored nieces & nephews.
