Josephine “Josie” Piga
Beloved Sister, Aunt, and Caring Friend
Josephine “Josie” Piga, 86, of Colonia, NJ, formerly of the Peterstown Section of Elizabeth, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ.
Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Elizabeth at 10am. Entombment will follow to St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
She was an associate manager for Prudential Insurance Company in Newark for many years, retiring in 1993.
Josie was the President of the Vallatese Ladies Society, secretary of the Valli Girls & guys bowling league all of Elizabeth.
She was an entertainer with the Harry Carey Troop, singing and yodeling in St. Anthony’s Minstrel Shows and entertaining our service members at Fort Dix and Camp Kilmer.
Josie was predeceased by her beloved parents; Pietro and Mary (Veltre) Piga, and her friend John Mizzoni.
She is survived by her loving sisters and brother; Marianna Dubell, Angelina “Bella” Piga and Salvatore Piga; nieces and nephews Denise Griest (Donald), Donna Dubell, Peter Piga (Eva), Sallyanne Piga (Roberto), and Kathy Scully.
Also surviving are many cousins and friends.
Josie will be missed by all of her loving family and dear friends.
