Joseph Garfall, Jr., 72, lifelong Elizabeth resident, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, feast day of his patron namesake, St. Joseph.
Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 8:45am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park at 10am. Interment will follow to St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be 5 to 8pm on Friday.
He was a mechanical design engineer, specializing in the physical design of electrical power supplies for satellites and spacecraft.
Joseph earned his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1982.
He was employed by RCA where he designed a Lunar Roving Vehicle Apollo 17 program, Lockheed-Martin where he worked on the Mars Global Surveyor NASA Satellite, Singer Electronics, and Bell Laboratories.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Garfall, Sr. and Frances (Calabro) Garfall. He was a devoted and loving son to both of his parents. Because of his continual care, his parents lived a long and good life. Joseph’s mother, Frances, lived to see her 100th birthday and his father, Joseph, Sr., lived to the age of 89.
Joseph will be missed by his many relatives and friends. Family gatherings will not be the same without him.
