"The Greatest Generation"

Peter C. Listowski, 93, of Kenilworth, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 15th, 2019.
Peter was born in Jersey City, NJ to Charles and Veronika on March 1st, 1925. He was one of eight children.
Peter proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, specifically New Guinea and the Philippines, where he survived a sinking ship, which amongst others, claimed the lives of his two best buddies. He spoke of them often and cherished their friendship. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned back to Jersey City.
It was there in Jersey City that he met and married Elizabeth “Betty” in 1950. Together they had three children before moving to Kenilworth in 1969.
Peter was employed as a pressman for more than 30 years before retiring in 1991.
Throughout the years he enjoyed building model airplanes, trips to Atlantic City, bowling, having family over for summer pool party BBQ’s, watching golf and his favorite football team the Washington Redskins, and of course his dogs.
Peter was predeceased by his wife Betty, son Peter, daughter Marietta Curran, granddaughter Ksanti Pugliese and 6 of his siblings Tony, Mary, Rosie, Walter, Annie and Stanley.
He is survived by his devoted son Bruce, sister Stella, daughter-in-law Diane, son-in-law John, along with 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was a true gentleman and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed but not forgotten.
Visitation will be at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park, NJ on Tuesday February 19th from 5 – 8:00pm.
Service will continue at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 20th at the funeral home.
Interment will follow with military honors at St. Gertrude Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum at 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ.
