Richard T. Tierney, 79, of Toms River, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 19, 2019. Born in Keansburg, he lived many years in Bayville, loved living in Cape Coral Florida, before moving to Toms River 3 years ago. Mr. Tierney had been employed with Grand Union Food Stores since he was a teenager. He retired from the Brick store as Grocery Manager many years ago. Richard was an avid boatman’s who loved boating on the Barnegat Bay. He was a member of the Barnegat Bay Power Squadron and loved working in his yard. And, dearly missed his dog Maggie.
Surviving are; his wife of 37 years Dorothy “Gernhardt” Tierney; three children, Donna Harrington and her husband Michael, Dawn Busacay and her husband Sam and Dean Tierney; six grandchildren, Ava, Mia, Kristina, Ricky, BJ and Bryanna; seven step-children, Debbie Cora, Donna Mabie and her husband John, Dorothy Licata and her husband Michael, Kathy Gunther and her husband William, Vinny D’Amelio and his wife Dina, Mary D’Amelio, Michael D’Amelio and his wife Melissa and sixteen step grandchildren Shannon, Brittney, Steven, Mary, Billy, Nicky, Kyle, Vinny, Anthony, Michael, Alexis, Madison, Jason, Jenna, Michael, Joey and four step great grandchildren Caitlin, Alana, Ethan, Billy.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Jan. 22nd, from 6pm to 9pm, with a Prayer Service at 8:15pm, in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville.
