Obituary for Alfred R Vardalis

Alfred R. Vardalis, 91, of Columbus, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospice, Mount Holly, on July 11, 2018. Born in Kenilworth, he was formerly of Westfield for 55 years before moving to Columbus 17 years ago.
He worked for the Westfield police department for 35 years retiring as captain and proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy.
Alfred was a member of pistol club & swimming club; he was the president of the Union County Police Pistol Team for 16 years; ran for sheriff of Union County and the past president of the Grand Centurions.
Surviving is his wife Frances of 68 years; his daughters, Kerry Kurz, Barnegat & Karen & her husband George Hatze, Toms River; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Alexa, Christopher & Taylor & his great grandchildren, Austin, Ayden & Azlyn.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8pm at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, Roselle Park, NJ Funeral mass will be on Tuesday at10am at St. Helens Church, Westfield. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ.
