Obituary for Leo "Bud" Schumm

Leo “Bud” Schumm, 72, of Bayville, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family, on Monday, June 11th 2018 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, after a long struggle with ALS.

Bud was born in Paterson, NJ to Leo & Ruth Schumm and was one of three children. As a child, Bud loved the outdoors and spent many days fishing with his father in Sandy Hook. He also loved camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed sharing his knowledge with both his son Brian and grandson Brendan.

His love of the outdoors led him to become a Truck Driver for 35 years, where he met many people and enjoyed the many different places he traveled to. In his later years Bud enjoyed golfing with his wife, son and grandson, especially in his favorite vacation destination in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Bud was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Schumm, son Brian and grandson Brendan; his brother Ronald Schumm and sister Linda Dino; his brother-in-law Art, nephew Art Jr., niece Michelle and his cousins Gail Bartilucci, Doug Lawrence, Wayne Lawrence and Denise Scott.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd. (Route 9) Bayville NJ on Saturday June 16, 2018 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. held in the St. Barnabas Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bud’s memory to: The ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002-2755 (www.alsphiladelphia.org ).
