Obituary for Claire Butler (Miller)

Claire  Butler (Miller)
Claire Butler, (nee: Miller), 100, of Mountainside, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park at 10am. Please be at the funeral home 9am. Interment will follow to Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth.
Visitation will be on Friday 6 to 9pm.
Born in Metuchen, NJ, Claire lived in Mountainside for many years.
She was a realtor in the Mountainside and Westfield area for over 40 years.
Claire served her country in the United States Women’s Army Auxiliary Corp. during WWII as an air traffic controller, helping pilots train for battle stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois.
A professional roller skater you could find her at Rockefeller Plaza giving exhibitions for bystanders appearing in Life Magazine in the July issue of 1940.
Later she switched to Ice Skating with the Essex Blades competing with the United States Nationals Precision Team at Lake Placid, NY.
Claire has traveled all over the United States, in state and national archery competition including the National Senior Olympics taking home the Gold Medal each year.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband in 1991 Fred Butler, a dear sister Beatrice Ochetti and a loving daughter-in-law Diane Butler.
Surviving are two loving sons Fred Butler, Jr. and Gary Butler and his wife Patricia, a dear brother Robert Miller, a dear sister Muriel Rice, four cherished grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
