Claire Pagnotta Pfleiderer
Claire Calderone Pagnotta Pfleiderer (née Schroeder) died at the Arbors Care Center in Toms River, NJ on April 3, 2018. She was 89. Claire was born on July 3, 1928 in Trenton, NJ to her parents, Emma and Francis Schroeder. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton and attended Trenton Junior College where she began a long and fruitful artistic career.
Over the years, Claire worked for Wheeling Steel, Creative Playthings and enjoyed a long career at the Ocean County Engineering Department, serving as the county’s right-of way negotiator. Before retiring, Claire enjoyed working in real estate in Seaside Park. Having an indomitable spirit, Claire was known for her incredible work ethic, her fierce loyalty, and her keen sense of humor. Throughout her life, Claire enjoyed watercolors and oil painting and created many beautiful portraits and landscapes, earning many professional accolades along the way. For many years, she was a member of the Ocean County Artist Guild. She loved the beach and for a long time enjoyed having friends and family visit her home in Island Heights and Seaside Park. Her greatest joys however came from the involvement she had with her children and grandchildren who adored her.
Claire is survived by her sister, Dorothy Tramontana and brother, Peter Schroeder as well as her daughter, Emily Kline of Hamilton, NJ, sons, Michael Robert Pagnotta and wife, Judy of Medford, NJ and Pat Andrew Pagnotta and wife, Susan of Pine Beach, as well as seven grandchildren and a great-grandson. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Titus, Katherine Lord and Barbara Cook, brother, Robert Schroeder, son-in law, Archie Kline and her dearest friend, Helen O’Loughlin.
