Gus Davis, Jr., 83, of Kenilworth, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.
Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, NJ, on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 9:45am. A Celebration of Life will be offered at Crossroads Christian Fellowship in Union, NJ. Interment will follow to Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ.
Visitation will be 3 to 7pm on Sunday.
Born March 18, 1934 in Newark, NJ to Gus and Catherine (Bilby) Davis. Gus graduated from Milburn High School in 1952 and went to work with his father at Gus’s Automotive Service in Vauxhall, NJ until retiring in 2006.
He married Arline Spring of Clark, NJ, and had three children; Gary, Ronald and Karen.
He was a member of the U. S. National Guard of NJ for 9 years.
Gus was president of the Jaycees, a leadership training program for young men for goods work in town /state, served on the Kenilworth Recreation Committee, Kenilworth Board of Education Committee for 8 years, honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. McVeigh Council 4186, member of St. Antoninus Church in Newark, NJ and now a member of Crossroads Fellowship in Union, NJ, and a member of the Gideon’s of Union County and served as secretary and Chaplin.
Gus is predeceased by his parents Gus and Catherine Davis, his son Ronald Davis, his brother Ronald, sisters Nancy Cooper and Sandra Fusco.
He is survived by a son Gary Davis of Boston, MA, a daughter Karen Zimmerman and her husband Jeff of Union, NJ, four grandchildren Nicholas, Devin, Jonathan, and Amanda, his sister Kathleen Horn, and brother-in law Fred Spring.
Also survived by many brothers and sisters of the Lord.
Gus was a Yankee fan and Giant fan however, mostly he loved the Lord.
