Obituary for Charles A Hamill

Charles Hamill, of Elizabeth, NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in his residence.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral service in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10am. Please meet at the funeral home at 8:45am. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Newark, NJ.
Visitation is 4 to 8pm on Wednesday.
Mr. Hamill was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth, NJ.
He worked as a Mail Carrier for the U S Post Office in Elizabeth for forty years.
Charles served his country proudly in the US Army during WWII. He served in the 11th Arm’d Division under General George S Patton in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of VFW Post 2230 in Kenilworth, NJ.
Surviving is his devoted wife of sixty-nine years, Gloria Hamill (nee: Mazza), two loving daughters, Patricia Diehl and Wendy Battaglia and her husband Michael,
Five adored grandchildren, Paul Diehl, Michael Battaglia, Scott Battaglia, Brian Diehl, Lori Battaglia and nine cherished great grandchildren, Paul, Landan, Jordyn, Brooklynn, Jackson, Henry, Patrick, Alexandra and Samantha.
In Lieu of flowers, donation in Charles’ memory may be made to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
