Obituary for Stanley D. Smith
Stanley D. Smith, 64, of Roselle Park, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:30am in Community United Methodist Church, 301 Chestnut St., Roselle Park, NJ, 07204.
Born in East Orange, NJ, Stanley was raised in Cranford, NJ, before settling to Roselle Park 38 years ago.
He was a chef studying at the Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie, NY and worked as a chef at the Chestnut Tavern in Union, NJ, Yesterday’s in Roselle Park, NJ, also a parking lot supervisor for Country Club Services in Milburn, NJ for 30 years.
Stanley was a member of the Men’s Club at Community United Methodist Church in Roselle Park, loved coking, the Yankees, gardening with his daughter, music, and playing Canasta with his friend.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 38 years Diana (nee: Downie) Smith, two loving children Stephen and Lisa Smith, and two dear sisters Karen Traska and Wendy Smith.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Stanley’s memory to the Turtle Back Zoo – Zoological Society of New Jersey, 560 Northfield Ave., W. Orange, NJ, 07052 (turtlebackzoo.com/zoologicalsocietynj@gmail.com).
