Obituary for John J Morrison

John J  Morrison
John J. Morrison, 84, of Little Egg Harbor, died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side. Born in Montclair, he lived many years in Roselle Park before retiring to New Port Richie, Florida and Little Egg Harbor. Mr. Morrison was employed with Operating Engineers Local #68 of West Caldwell for many years. John proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Goodrich #831. He was a member for 53 years with American Legion Post of Roselle Park and Madeira Beach Florida. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors’ Association of New Jersey. John also served his community as Volunteer Fireman with Roselle Park Fire Department Central Station #2, and, was the first President of the Morley McGovern Association of Roselle Park. Mr. Morrison was predeceased by his son James and his sister Barbara Ralph.

Surviving are; his wife of 61 years Patricia; 6 children, Teresa Squillace and husband Richard, John Morrison and wife AnnaMarie, Patricia Friedman and husband Howard, Kevin Morrison and wife Cheryl, Dennis Morrison and wife Janice and Carol Morrison; a sister Dorothy Tully. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, May 7th, from 2pm to 6pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park. Funeral Monday, 9am at the funeral home before celebrating a 10am Funeral Mass at Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park. Burial will follow to New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory to your favorite charity, would be appreciated.
