Biagio Sciscione, Former Elizabeth Butcher and WWII Army Veteran



Biagio “Bill” Sciscione, 95, of Kenilworth, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 10, 2017.
Funeral is from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 8:45am. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Theresa R.C. Church at 10am. Interment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Biagio lived in Kenilworth for 51 years.
He was a self-employed butcher who owned the Fourth Avenue Meat Market in Elizabeth for many years before retiring in 1973.
A Sergeant in the Army during World War II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations and was also involved in the invasions of the Philippine Islands for which he received Campaign Medal, Ribbons and Citations.
Biagio was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post #7363 in Clark and Knights of Columbus Fr. Mc Veigh council #4186 in Kenilworth.
He is predeceased by a cherished grandson Keith Mellon-Butler and a dear sister Minnie Cannonie.
Biagio is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Mary (nee: Caruso) Sciscione; three loving children William P. Sciscione and his wife Jeannine, Jane M. Butler and her husband Darryl, and Judy R. DeFilippo and her husband Victor; 8 cherished grandchildren Melissa, Michael, Michele, Savannah, Santino, Pamela, Jackie, and Victor; 2 adored great-grandchildren Joey and Mila; 2 dear brothers Joseph J. and Philip P. Sciscione; 5 dear sisters Marie Guida, Patricia Polon, Betty Petti, Jean Riccardi, and Theresa Ann Schmeider; and his loving caregiver for three years Natia Pallante.
