Obituary for Steven E. Kotch Sr.

Steven E Kotch Sr. , 83, of Seaside Heights, NJ , formerly of Kenilworth passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2014 in his residence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Friday, November 14, 2014 in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, NJ, at 11am. Please be at the funeral home at 10am.
Visitation is 4 to 8pm on Thursday.
Born in Kenilworth, Mr. Kotch lived in Kenilworth most of his of his life, until moving to Seaside Heights and Silverwoods Adult Community , Toms River four years ago.
He was a Superintendant for Carpenter Technology in Union, NJ, retiring thirty- three years ago.
Mr. Kotch was a member of the Planning Board and Recreation Committee both in Kenilworth.
He served his country as a United States Marine in the Korean Conflict as an Anti-Tank Assault Infantryman.
Steven’s entire life was centered around his family. He was an avid gardener who loved spending long days on the beach. He was loyal to his friends and neighbors and enjoyed hosting the “Breakfast Club”. In later years he was well cared for by his devoted aide, Iveta, who nurtured his Slovak heritage. He was once again fluent in Slovak. Though he was a tough Marine, he developed a softer side in later years. He kept an upbeat attitude despite physical limitations. He loved to race on his motor scooter with his granddaughter, Phoebe.
Mr. Kotch is predeceased by his devoted wife, Joan (Musik) Kotch and his loving son Steven E
Kotch, Jr.
Surviving are his two loving daughters, Patricia Kotch and her husband Scott Ruerup and Susan Kotch Shakun and her husband Jay Shakun, and four adored grandchildren, Steven, Kristen, Jase and Phoebe.
